What is Mexican Day of The Dead?
Once a year, around the time we call Halloween, the Mexicans celebrate 'Dia de los Muertos' (Day of the Dead). Over a three day period the Mexicans celebrate their dead, they remember their ancestors by inviting them back to this world, eating food at their gravesides, creating altars to their memory and inviting them through their doors back into their lives. It's not just a celebration of death, it’s a celebration of life, colour, arts and music, a fiesta to honour those who have passed. Colourful carnival characters and folk art arise in the streets, giant skulls, flowers, lavish processions, Mariachi bands, brass bands, sugar coated skulls, pinatas and fireworks.
Lee from Rambunctious says, 'The day of the dead' has always been a bit of an
obsession of mine, I think we have a stagnant view of dealing with death in this culture, it doesn’t need to be like that, this year forget those Halloween drabs and greys, let’s celebrate our ancestors and invite them to come with us to the funkiest club/arts event the South west has seen this year! We’ve been really lucky to secure the 'Yellow room' at Hannah's at Seal Hayne, a venue of 700 capacity, with their bone shaking sound system and fresh design to boot, this is Rambunctious on a big scale!

On Nov 5th, Hod’guez and the Rambunctious sound system brings a sonic sizzleof fat fiesta funk with a dizzying array of Mariachi hop, Nortec, Mexican funk, dirty cumbia, mexican ska and Electro swing! Slap on your sombreros!
